Dr. Ricks Highlighted During Black History Month by NOVA


 


 

Dr. Ricks is honored to have been selected as a Black History Month faculty spotlight professor for Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) this February 2022. She was nominated by colleague, Dr. Joann Credle, and interviewed by Hoang Nguyen. Dr. Ricks shares insight into her connections with students, her views on higher education, her advice for college students, and more!


Dr. Ricks is an adjunct professor for NOVA and is in her 20th semester of teaching for the school. She has taught over 85 classes and had approximately 3,000 students over the years. She teaches in the business and public service and student development departments. She has been a speaker for several of NOVA's conferences, including the Virginia Community College System's Annual New Horizons Conference and the Power Up You Pedagogy conference, among others.


She considers it a great motivator to touch the lives of others in this capacity and to share knowledge, wisdom, and education that will last a lifetime for her students.
