The Virginia Community College Association (VCCA) was developed to support faculty, staff, and administrators of all 23 community colleges in the State of Virginia. The VCCA provides professional development opportunities and opportunities to connect, grow, and learn with colleagues. This year, the 40th annual conference was held in Virginia Beach, VA.
There were amazing speakers, including the Virginia Community College System Chancellor Dr. David Dore and VCCS alum, Mr. Keith Cephus. Also, serving as a presenter was our very own, Dr. Sabrina B. Ricks. Dr. Ricks has served in higher education for a decade, considers herself a lifelong learner, and loves to share what she has learned with others.
There have been transitions in the higher education system as well as in the workforce with the emergence and growth of artificial intelligence. During this conference, Dr. Ricks addressed these realities as well as a focus on preparing educators and employers for the students/employees that are currently being molded and shaped as our leaders of tomorrow.
The VCCA is excited to continue planning upcoming professional development events for faculty, staff, and administrators from the Virginia Community College System.
