Leadership Nuggets

Maintaining strong leadership in organizations as employees transition, retire, or leave for other reasons is essential for the strength and longevity of the firm's future. Dr. Ricks has been a longstanding member of the Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Fire Department and they understand and support the need for strong leadership.

Dr. Ricks serves as the team lead for the firm's Leadership Nugget Committee. This is a group that focuses on ensuring everyone is being equipped with leadership skills, highlighting retention and recruitment, as well as highlighting succession planning. In the accompanying photos, highlights from presentations this year are shared of leaders (Fire Chief Wayne Haight and Assistant Fire Chief Ryan Williams pictured).

If you have ever considered volunteering in your community, emergency and fire service may be a good option for you. There are opportunities to become a firefighter, emergency medical technician, administrative member, auxiliary roles, and more. You can start as early as 16 years old and become a junior member. There is so much to learn and experience. You could also one day become a lieutenant, captain, rescue chief, fire chief, president, secretary, or more.
