The topic of loneliness has become increasingly important and is worth mentioning in more than one blog and article. Not only is one's personal life impacted, but the professional role can be impacted as well. Loneliness leads to distractions which lead to mistakes which lead to workers' compensation claims which lead to a variety of additional issues that negatively affect productivity at work.
These two primary groups impacted are the elderly and teenagers moving into young adulthood. Ironically, they have some of the same issues. These two groups tend to self-isolate, they seek independence, they play video games and/or are constantly distracted by social media, and they rarely spend time with those who are closest to them. These are all issues that lead to loneliness.
